Hello Matt. I too am here because of our Twitter connection. Your story is at first heartbreaking, but then you have turned your experiences into this site which is a support to all who need it. I will not judge your family, I will simply say, deciding who makes up your family is within your power. It's wonderful that you have the love of your life!
I am here because I hope I can help others. I am in a relationship that would be a "legal" marriage if Florida allowed us to have the same civil rights as others. We are registered domestic partners as the county we are in allows that. We may marry in another state (we both lived in NY for some time) or tough it out and wait for Florida to come on board.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and forging new friendships.
