I'm a 4th year doctoral student conducting my dissertation research through the University of Indianapolis. I would like to invite you to participate in my online survey. This study aims to investigate the coming out, identity management, and social networking experiences of lesbian and gay individuals. You will be asked to consider both positive and negative experiences in these three areas. The survey is estimated to take 30 to 60 minutes to complete, and can be accessed via the link at the bottom of this notice.
This research is not for profit and is not sponsored by any over-arching organizations. It is my hope that the information I gather can be used to help individuals in the future who are wrestling with issues related to a non-traditional sexual orientation.
To be eligible for participation, individuals must be at least 18 years of age; self-identify as lesbian or gay; not identify as bisexual, asexual, or pansexual; and not identify as transgender. You do not need to have a social networking account or be "out" to participate. As a thank-you for completing the survey, you can elect to enter a drawing to win one of three $20 Amazon gift cards. All collected information will remain anonymous and confidentially stored. No identifying information will be collected from you. You may contact me with any questions (mulders@uindy.edu).
