Help us promote a solution for Teen Mental Health Issues
Teen Mind
Petition by
Teen Mind
CHEPSTOW, United Kingdom
Introduction
850,000 young people in the UK suffer with mental health issues. Stories of young people taking their own life due to pressure and bullying have increased over the past few years. Teachers aren't trained to spot and deal with these issues, young people don't know what mental health is or how to help themselves and GP services are in crisis.
Something needs to be done to help young people before mental and emotional health becomes an issues. The Teen Mind is built on logic and common sense to help all groups including students, teachers and parents.
What will The Teen Mind do?
1) Create bespoke resources for students Yr 6 - 13 on mental and emotional health issues such as anxiety, depression, self harm, bullying and using social media etc. This will be a bespoke well thought out booklet.
2) Offer bespoke training to teachers on what mental health is, how to spot the signs of a student in trouble, how and when to get them help and how to teach the topic of mental health.
3) Teaching Resources to allow teachers and staff to cover the topics included under mental and emotional health in a professional unbiased way. Teachers often lack resources or the time to create useful PHSE lessons
4) Talks and workshops to schools to follow on from resources to inspire young people to keep going, work through problems and be positive.
What Makes us Different?
1) Many organisations make campaign to highlight a problem. We don't - we raise awareness by offering proactive solutions examples being resources to students and training for teachers.
2) We have a three stage plan to tackle many subjects and we aim to start off small and grow nationally
3) Everything is based upon research by service users - we will never create products without refining them our testing them first to make sure they are right.
4) We accept that change at government level will take time - we use logic to come up with cost effective solutions that take care of young people.
5) We work for all groups includings young people (10 -19), teachers and staff and parents.
What links do we want to make?
1) Local Education Authorities
2) Local and national health boards
3) Schools and Parents
4) Charitable groups who focus on anti stigma
5) Politicians and the Media
Overall Aim
Our overall aim is to make every student enters secondary school with the tools, education and resources to get through school and solve any issue that may come up. We also want to allow teachers to help young people with their mental and emotional health in a productive way. We believe no young person deserves to have their lives ruined by mental health issues or online bullying, we're here to help.
Too many teens are going through school with mental health issues like anxiety, depression, self harm, suicidal thoughts - some as young as 11! Too many teens are being bullied to the point of a mental breakdown or worse because there is no education about youth mental health in schools and teachers aren't trained.

Mental and Emotional Health Issues are on the increase amongst teenagers in schools. The Teen Mind aims to help correct with resources to students, resources and training to school staff around the topics of mental and emotional health.
The social enterprise idea aims to give every young person the chance to go through school with the knowledge and the resources to help themselves. No teenager should be forced to consider suicide as a way out. No teenager should face problems alone. Treatment and access to help should not depend on money.
We need your help to promote the idea and the solutions we have, this will in turn help young people and hopefully cut down on the number of young people in diar need of help.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
