So, I've been following story about the United Methodist pastor, Frank Schaefer, who was defrocked because he performed his own son's wedding to the man he loved. Recently, however, the UMC powers-that-be explained that, though Schaefer should be punished for his act of defiance, the punishment should be a 30-day suspension, not a total defrocking, so they reinstated him and gave him time served, and now the unrepentant pastor is back. And guess what? He's NOT sorry and he WILL (more-than-likely) do it again! Good for him! Love is an iron-willed thing. Anyway, seeing this story (you can read more an see Rev. Schaefer's interview with Lawrence O'Donnell here: www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/defrocked-pastor-reinstated-288384579900reminds me how this country is moving slowly-but-surely in the right (or should I say the LEFT?) direction, where LGBT rights are concerned. It was such an inspiring, hopeful story, it made me want to sing. Sing what? you may ask. Well, sing THIS... ("Mama" Cass Elliott singing "New World Coming"...so apropos, don't you think?)
