Okay here's my little list - Apologies for the costume drama's the clog this - it's who I am. IMDB links provided in case you want to look into any of these. I'm sort of a media junkie. This list is aside from ANY Alfred Hitchcock movie. Hitch is my all time favorite movie director.
THE FULL COMPLETE SHOWING - WITH TRAILERS!!!
1) Pride and Prejudice - The Joe Wright version with Keira Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen (who is another actor that I am obsessed with - he melts my heart every time I watch this film - Matthew's walk up to Lizzie in the final sequence on a foggy morning and how he stutters "I love you" - SLAYS me every damn time! It's just a brilliant piece of acting that he thought to do that- because emotions rattle you like that. I am undone, spent, when I watch this one)
2) Smoke Signals (but that's purely because I am Native - gotta promote the native cause - that, and its a great film)
3) Big Eden (because it's got my favorite Native American actor - Eric Schweig) I absolutely LOVE this gay favorite film
4) Anna Karenina (again Joe Wright directed with Keira and Matthew and the stunningly beautiful Aaron Taylor-Johnson - and that's sayin' something cause I am not generally attracted to blonds but man oh, man did he make me sit up and take notice, that and the over the top execution of the costumes, sets and filming - brilliant, all of it)
5) Auntie Mame (Rosalind Russell if you please, not that dreadful musical version - we're talking movies here) EVERY gay boy should have a whacked out Aunt like Mame Dennis of number 3 Beekman Place, NYC
6) Shakespeare in Love (I adore the screenplay the most - and for godssake it has Judi Dench as Queen Elizabeth)
7) Funny Girl - my first love in film - Barbra Streisand - I mean, I am really old school gay that way. Seen it, and I am not kidding, close to 323 times over my life time, now bear in mind, some of that was just having it on so I could hear the songs in the background while I was doing house work and such.
8) Beautiful Things - Because I am militant gay that way sometimes and I just want a solid boy on boy romp of a feel good film (ditto for choice number 3)
9) Get Real - Same as number 8 but I love the whole geek and jock pairing (it's partially why my novel is the same setup - shameless plugs never hurt, right?)
10) The Fall - One of the most breathtaking movies (I am sort of addicted to Tarsem Singh's directorial style - Immortal's is from the same director but The Fall is a little known film but GORGEOUS to watch).
Those are sort of my go to's when I want to watch something.
