Hi Domo358,
We live in a world where LGBT people are constantly being openly discriminated against, harmed or even murdered. While America is certainly more accepting of LGBT people than most countries, it is important for you to know that coming out may be as bad as committing suicide for certain LGBT person, depending on where he or she lives. While most of us become aware of who we really are at a certain age, it is never wise to reveal ourselves, not even to those we care about, if there is a very high likelihood that they would turn against us. Remember, in order for you to live your life to the fullest, you have to first survive. It is the one thing that most of us older folks have learned from a very young age.
If you really need to come out to someone, it is important for you to first identify those you can trust, people you know who would accept you unconditionally. Remember that these people may not be your immediate family, or even your relatives.
Your sexuality is a small part of who you are, and you have years ahead of you to prove to the world just what you are capable of, even set it on fire, regardless of your sexual orientation. It may sound unfair to you right now, since every straight kid you know out there can talk about their crushes on this girl and that girl until your ears bleed, but unless you are in an environment where homosexuality is openly accepted, it's just one of those things that you may have to put up with until you're much older.
Stay safe, but always stay true to yourself.
