My name is Kevin. I'm new to the boards. Getting old in life. (-:
I'm an author of young adult novels. I'm 49 years old. I was married for over 20 years and have 2 adult children. I also have two grandchildren. As a child, I was physically and sexually abused and felt myself forced into the closet by 2 extremely bigoted parental units. I've been out for about 3 years now, roughly. I am happily partnered now. We've been together for just over 1 1/2 years. We've been traveling the world together and building a life together. In the past I wrote teen novels issue based focusing more on abuse and bullying...but I just finished my first LGBTQ young adult novel. My agent is now shopping it to publishers and I am currently working on another. I have always felt that fiction is a great way to promote change and acceptance in teens. I like to think that I'm contributing to a revolution in which the outcome is one of overall acceptance and diversity. But in truth, if one of my books helps ONLY one reader, I will be happy. I just like writing about the issues I myself tackled in silence. Once a light is shined into the darkness, it's hard to put it out.
My partner and I live out and loud and proud. Now that I have my voice, I refuse to be silent.
