I am extremely grateful to be a part of your community, I am currently residing in Gatineau, Quebec Canada, and my story of living here in Canada has been a horrific one, I wake everyday with the fear of dying or expect to be seriously hurt, living in a boarding house with 5 other straight individuals and have been for almost 4 years, also whom care for me very little to say the least. I never realise the scale and extent of homophobia in Canada, you might find this hard to believe considering Canada was the first country in 2005 to legislate same sex marriage into law, like many others, I had a false sense of security because once I truly came out of the closet publicly, it did not take long to find out, being alone here, it feels like a foreign country or another planet. I have been harassed, discriminated against, bullied and denied 80% of my rights for almost 20 years and still today, I cannot turn to the police, any level of government, or any of the many Canadian human rights bodies we have, federal or provincial as I have tried many times but it appears as if I am invisible, at times I feel as if I'm a ghost walking among the living, realising the sad truth that for me there will never be justice, but no matter the fear I push on everyday living on the one only hope that one day it really will get better.... Peace&Love Terry.K
