I know that there is already a thread for what song people are listening to but I wanted to make a thread for more general discussion for music: What genres/ artists of music are you guys into? What are your favourite pieces of music? Any recomendations? Feel free to post youtube, soundcloud or spotify links to music that you love.
Thanks, Keith

LOVE THIS THREAD!!!
I pretty much listen to what is "current." I am a HUGE Lady Gaga fan. (Not because she's the "thing to like" or what's hot.) But because of her Born This Way album. When I heard "Born This Way" for the first time I fell in LOVE with the song. It was simply perfect. Then songs like "Hair" and "Edge Of Glory" really started to grow on my. "Hair" is simply perfect for my high school life, and still rings true today. There are a lot of songs on ARTPOP that I like, and enjoy listening too, however I do not have that connection like I did with Born This Way. Imagine how my heart stopped when THE Lady Gaga followed me on Twitter! One of the highlights of my life, being noticed by someone who made me feel that it was okay to be who I am was amazing! Especially when it was someone as famous as her.
Ohhh, and Katy Perry is fantastic! Firework is AMAZING!!! ~Matt

I am mainly into electronic music myself, listening to genres such as: house, techno, trance, drum and bass(mainly of the liquid funk variety), dubstep, electronica, synth-pop and most of their sub-genres (however I don't like commercial edm, brostep, gabba and psy-trance does nothing for me.) In terms of other styles, I like a bit of soul, jazz, motown, and tiny bits of rock, rap and acoustic pop.
As for artists there are too many to mention but I am a huge fan of a singer called Jessie Ware. I will post a link to one of her tracks. I am also a huge fan of a melodic progressive trance duo called The Blizzard who I am listening to as I am write this post. Here are a few links to kinda let you guys get what I am into skip to - I will say that trance tracks do have very long intros so give it a chance.
- Beautiful remix of one of my all time favourite vocal trance tracks
- An amazing cover of Cosmic Love by Florence and the Machine from Cristin Milioti
- One of my favourite house tracks of all time. I love the message of this track as well
So yeah there are a few tracks but I could go on and on with links. Hope you enjoy them.

The Eurovision Song Contest begins in 2 weeks time with the Semi finals starting on the 6th May and 8th May and then the Final which is on the 10th May. This year it will be in Denmark. Emmelie De Forest won the contest last year with the song 'Teardrops' I've been looking about on Youtube with this year's entrants and so far my favourite is Estonia , I hope it wins !

I have a major boy band addiction that has been going on for quite a while. I fell in love with Nsync, 98 degrees, Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block and never really fell out of love with them. I am still as addicted as I was as a kid!
Much Love, Rae**

My all time favourite musician is Alexz Johnson, she's not very well known but her music just means so much to me. I'd definitely recommend checking out her stuff on Youtube. met her once! she was so nice. This song makes me happy when I'm down: White Houses by Vanessa Carlton is a song that has gotten me through so much in my life. I even named my blog after one of the lyrics. Aside from those two artists, I love a lot of different types of music. I love the pianist Yiruma, Lady Gaga Katy Perry Cobra Starship Panic! at the Disco Blondie Garbage The Runaways Ellie Goulding Adele Florence and the Machine Lana Del Rey Pink and a lot of other, random stuff. Ha. I absolutely LOVE Eurovision! <3

My tastes are all over the map (both in genre and in time frame). As a classically trained singer there's a fair amount of opera, operetta and orchestral music I listen to. But I'll spare you all of that.
Country - Esp our new Gay Country hero - Steve Grand (even pitched in with his kickstarter campaign to get his first album off the ground) Rhythm/Blues/Soul - old skool through current stuff (early Marvin Gaye or Stevie Wonder through to Beyonce) Dance Music - from Disco through to present (was a DJ through the 80's and 90's so my record (vinyl) collection is well into the tens of thousands of records - seriously, a 10' x 30' storage unit filled with them with some stuff you simply can't find any more. Showtunes - Golden era through to present (that's practically a given, isn't it?) Classic Rock - BIG TIME Queen and Heart fan here. But like it all pretty much.
I am up for just about anything, really. Just have to hear the passion in it. If it's solely a sellout for commercial purposes then I won't bother. Don't like pandering at all... not a moment will I spend upon it in my life. There are simply too many artists out there struggling to get heard. If you sell out, then I'm out.
But yeah, that's why I am a huge supporter of Steve Grand and Jay Brannan. They aren't signed with some big label. They do EVERYTHING themselves. No agents, no booking manager, all promotion handled by them to ensure you hear THEIR voice through and through. Now THAT'S what I am talkin' about...
Peace!
