It is very important that you understand our online forums are a place we have created for others to go for advice when going through rough times in life. With that being said our online forums are a judgment free zone. By creating account or posting on the online forums you agree to be judgment free to anyone posting on the site. Anyone found judging others will be ban from the forums, and any future benefits from LGBTSupport.org. With that being said...
Have you been dealing with being discriminated against? This thread is to provide advice and guidance with discrimination. Feel free to start a new topic to share your discrimination cases, and how you are working through it. ~Matt

I don't think I've suffered discrimination yet, but I feel like because of my sexuality, and like I've discussed before, the fact that I'm unfortunately not necessarily "straight acting" and just naturally "effeminate" means that I'm quite scared for my future. Because even though the world is a lot more accepting than before, I feel my options are still heavily limited, I know I'll be restricted when it comes to jobs or in the workplace etc... so that kinda annoys/worries/scares me.

You know... I am right there with you. I am not the most masculine person ever. However it has never actually played an issue when it comes to getting a job. Actually I think there are several jobs where it has actually be beneficial for me. With that being said, people are people, and you will still face discrimination. The world *is* getting better though, so hopefully we have nothing but a bright discrimination free future ahead of us! ~Matt

The world is getting better but I think that there even here in Denmark, where most people are fine with it, are a few jobs who can be tough to get of you are not straight. Eg I want to be diplomate when I'm done with school and that might be a bit difficult if they know I'm bi-sexual and even harder if I have a girlfriend.

As an Human Resources professional, as far as discrimination in the workplace, we try to look at laws and how they affect sexuality and transgender concerns.
The best advice I can give for the workplace is to document. Write down issues with dates and times, and what was specifically said and by whom. Your HR professional can then use this information for an investigation.
If you are not able to move forward with your own HR team, there are equal employment opportunity boards. In the past, they have specifically focused on gender and race, but more cases are being examined that pertain to LGBT issues and cases.
Know that SHRM, the United States authority on Human Resources, is filling its databases with LGBT resources and progressive stances on laws and diversity. Though you may feel alone, you are not alone, and laws are changing.
